Rates & Policies

Listed below, you will find our current water rates. The bill is made up of two components, a fixed set of Assessments and a variable charge based on your consumption.

Our monthly base assessment is $158:

Basic monthly assessment, VDM = $101
Required monthly assessment, SJWC = $9
Required monthly assessment, SRF = $48
Additional monthly assessment, TPL = $86.93 (or $0 if paid up front)

• The basic VDM assessment covers monthly operations, repairs, & some improvements.
• The SJWC assessment is levied on us by San Jose Water Company in order to have the connection to their system.
• The SRF assessment is levied on us by the State of California to cover our State Revolving Fund loan which was necessary to bring the system into compliance with the updated State and Federal regulations.
• Each shareholder had a choice to either pay an amount up front to pay for their share of the Tank Replacement and Treatment Upgrade project, or to have their share spread over 20-years at $86.93 per month by being a member of the Tank Project Loan (TPL)

The Tank Replacement & Treatment Upgrade project that is currently underway requires an additional assessment to pay for the project. More information on the project can be found on our Current Projects page. It will also be discussed, in depth, at the Annual Shareholders meeting.

The cost of metered water is based on total usage, in cubic feet (a cubic foot of water is 7.481 gallons) and is tiered as follows:

Please note that most of our members consistently use around 1000 cubic feet and so are rarely
charged above the second tier. However, if you do extensive landscaping, fill a pool, or have a
leak, your consumption may put you into these higher tiers.
